SDI Government Solutions Acknowledges PA Lowe’s and Helps
Inspire Year-Round Military Discount
Vice President of Operations Dr. Emmett O’Hare thanked the home improvement store staff on
behalf of military families, sparking the chain to expand their military discount program
MUNHALL,_PA_and_MOORESVILLE,_NC_(March_04,_2010) – Shortly after retired Colonel and SDI Government Solutions’ Vice President of Operations Dr. Emmett O’Hare presented the staff of Lowe’s in Munhall, PA with a formal certificate of appreciation for its dedication to military families, the home improvement chain began offering a year-round military discount.
During the certificate ceremony on November 11, 2009, Dr. O’Hare thanked the entire staff for going above and beyond to support deployed military personnel and their families. He highlighted several examples in which Munhall Lowe’s employees assisted military personnel and their families with installation tips, design advice and selecting the best tools for home improvement projects. A formal certificate was awarded to the store on behalf of the US Armed Forces.
Dr. O’Hare closed his remarks by thanking the store’s employees on behalf of all local military personnel and their families. “You will never know how much your actions mean to these families and their deployed service members,” he said.
Just three months after the ceremony, Lowe’s expanded its military discount program. The home improvement store, which has a rich history of supporting the military dating back to World War II, previously only offered the 10-percent discount on select patriotic holidays.
Active-duty, National Guard and reserve, retiree and disabled service members and their families may now receive the discount year-round by presenting a valid military ID card at the time of purchase. All other military veterans will receive the discount only on the Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Veterans Day weekends.
Larry D. Stone, President and Chief Operating Officer of Lowe’s, said, “This year-round discount program is one way we are reaffirming our commitment to the thousands of men and women who are serving throughout the world, as well as their family members at home.”
According to the Lowe’s website, the discount is available on in-stock and special order purchase of up to $5,000. It cannot be used on sales at Lowes.com, and it can not be applied to previous transactions or gift card purchases.
In addition to the discount, Lowe’s has also extended benefits for its deployed employees and also offers employment opportunities to veterans of the military. To date, more than 12,000 of the company’s employees are veterans or reservists.
